Mongol Rally Info
Team Everybody Yurts
The mongol Rally is a banger rally that leaves Hyde Park, London each summer to raise loads of money for charity.
It is not a race, there are no sports cars and there are no prizes for first place. It is all about adventure.
The rules of the rally are as follows..
- Get from Hyde Park to Ulaan Baator, the capital of Mongolia
- Your car can have an engine no bigger than 1000cc
- Each team must raise £1000 for charity
- er.. thats it
There is no support and no set route, once you leave London it is down to the teams to navigate, drive, push, walk, beg, cry and bribe their way however they see fit to Mongolia.
The rally will take us through:
- France, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia
the charity stuff
Of course all this is a great opportunity to raise a load of money for charity.
With 300 teams entering the Mongol Rally in 2008 the event will raise a minimum of £300,000 for charity.
The two charities that we are raising money for are Hope and Homes for Children and Mercy Corps.
As well as these we will be visiting projects run by charity Sworde-Teppa in Tajikstan and we'll be delivering some needed supplies
for their community projects out there. So please let us know if you can donate any of the items on their wishlist.
